Carl Martin Hansen works with sculpture, drawing and painting. His relationship with music is especially important, while the landscape has been a consistent thread throughout the work. The latest works have many connections with sculptural, bodily forms, while leaving the viewer to his own experience and interpretation. He has recently been concerned with the face or mask as a form in both 2- and 3-dimensional works.

In the sculptural work Carl Martin works with both modelled sculptures for casting in bronze and with sculptures carved directly in marble. Recently, he hase also worked with ceramic sculptures in a similar expression, where also the colour of the sculpture becomes an important element.

In dialogue with the sculptural works, he works with paintings and drawings on the same subject. The most recent paintings and drawings are strongly influenced by musical inspirations, where text fragments are often included as part of the picture. The landscape is also strongly present. In the drawing process, the intuition and the unconscious are important elements. The drawings consist of long series that have often been created during travels, like notes and expressions of thoughts and reflections.
