Motlastskeppet by Anders Thorlin on Uddenskulptur 2025 2026
The stone ships are made from one of all the stone blocks that were not delivered to the Third Reich and were left lying along the Bohus coast.
It felt good to be able to ‘transform’ this block into something hopeful for me as the symbol of ships that take us further with or without cargo.
In “Motlastskeppet”, the cargo is in the form of a new carrying Egg and a corresponding void.
It is about being able to carry a load of grief, a loss and finding the balance in life…
That can perhaps compensate for something lost, dead, terrible memories.
Trying to transform the wrongs we have experienced.
Now frighteningly topical as history seems to be repeating itself and we must try to believe in hope after all!
