Guardian angel or mysterious figure What’s under the cloth….?
The interpretation of a sculpture is always personal. It is sometimes a mystery what ‘the artwork means’, even for the artist.
But as Hans Leutscher had thought, ‘The Veiled Man’ is a man’s figure hiding under a cloth. He cannot -or does not want to- see anything.
The meaning of such a large sculpture is also defined by where it stands in the landscape. In fact one could say that as long as The Veiled Man has not found his permanent place, he remains silent.
