Resting on a carefully carved six-sided pedestal is a complex form in reddish Bohus granite that at first glance appears almost impossible to realise in stone. The sculpture seems to consist of six cones joined precisely at the centre, creating a geometry that challenges both perception and craftsmanship.
The outer surfaces are highly polished and together form a perfect sphere. In contrast, the interior surfaces remain rough, yet without visible tool marks. A knowledgeable viewer may recognise the texture as flamed stone — a surface created by exposing the granite to intense heat from an acetylene burner. The process fractures the crystal structure at the surface, producing a raw and vibrant texture that contrasts sharply with the polished exterior.
The work unites mathematical precision with the physical resistance of the material. It stands not only as a sculptural form, but also as a demonstration of exceptional stonemasonry, where technical mastery and artistic vision become inseparable.
