Welcome to SkulpturSPARK - an international Exhibition of stone sculpture this summer at Udden in Hunnebostrand. The Exhibition – with a title that plays with a vision of a sculpture park sending sparks into the world – is arranged by Bohuslän Stone Scholarship in collaboration with the Leader Project Sculpture Park Hunnebostrand, Restaurant Bella Gästis and the Community of Sotenäs. The Exhibition is produced with support from Region Västra Götaland and private funding.

Udden in Hunnebostrand, today a beautiful recreation area by the sea, used to be a granite quarry from which stone was shipped all over the world.
This summer the place instead receives stone sculptures from the world and you are presented with a selection of sculptures by 21 artists granted with Bohuslän Stone Scholarship.Welcome to visit a fantastic place between land and sea, shaped by time and human forces to create an arena for an inspiring confrontation between art and nature.

Bohuslän Stone Art Scholarship has been arranged since 1991 by KKV-Bohuslän and celebrated its 20 year anniversary last year.
The scholarship is the most significant one for stone artists in Sweden. Every year an international renowned sculptor is invited to work for one month at the workshop with the local granite. This project has established a unique relationship with 21 artists from 17 different countries. Apart from Europe, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Turkey are represented. One third of the sculptors are women.

The scholarship is a collaboration between Region Västra Götaland, the local stone industry: Hallindens Granit AB, Bohusgranit AB, local companies in Bohuslän and The Gerlesborg School of Fine Art and KKV-B.

KKV-BOHUSLÄN is a workshop community for artists working with stone, printing, textile, silkscreen, photo, wood and metal. KKV-B is official host of Bohuslän Stone Scholarship and celebrates its 30th anniversary this summer with several exhibitions and exciting events.

Udden and Hunnebostrand experienced a significant development during the stone industry era and grew from a small fishing village to a stone workers society. Between 1860 until the end of Second World War all sorts of granite building material were produced here and shipped from the harbour of Udden to the corners of the world. Those golden days are gone but the marks from the stone quarry can still be seen on the surface of the rock. Even sculptures and building ornaments were manufactured here – like these urns for the General Post Office of Gothenburg in a photo from
