My works are abstract marble sculptures with glimpses of the lines and shapes of nature.
I get these glimpses especially at the sea.
There I see rocks, seaweed and shells in all their shapes and colours, see the rhythms and light of the waves.
The sculptures are made up of lines that move in and out of each other. And form folds that fall, folds that become long, narrow, deep and narrow. Rooms are formed in the folds. They are usually abstract and form the pattern of the sculpture, but they also form the shape of the sculpture.
The light follows the folds and changes the sculpture. As when the sun slides across the white marble, the light also creates darkness deep in the folds, everything else becomes indefinable and grey as the light slides away
The sculptures are usually created in white Carrara marble. The white colour makes all the lines and shapes stand out clearly and the expression is clear and simple.
I love the slowness of working with the material. It’s hard and stubborn, but I can work it so thin and fine that the light comes through the stone. I never stop challenging the material.
